YAY!! Justin is in the top 12! well, technically, top 13 now..heh Watching the reactions by the judges, I really am confused by their comments and decisions. when dick was asked what he feels about justin gng into the top 12, he said ' we the judges pick talent... ..... ....' and so forth...

But there is one very impt part missing. Didnt u choose justin to be part of the top 24 because you think he has talent?...i mean. come on...

Well, now theres no excuse he doesnt have enuf coverage. The coming weeks will be filled with them!

School has started. Am getting all geared up for it. 3 modules. 3 jam packed days.. ha...

It is good to see the rest again after a mth...all the laughter and jokes gng arnd makes me feel at home..now lets get ready for the next 12 weeks of mayhem!*Campaign mgt and media audiences modules are seriously getting me worried*

Recently, the Sunday Times wrote an article defending and giving sympathy towards Ris Low, ms spore world 2009. I wun be uploading the video here as I think many of you have seen it.

After reading the article, I could not stomach it and decided to write an email to the sunday times. Doubt it will be published so here is what i wrote.

Dear editor,

Your article on Miss Singapore World 2009, Ris Low is the weakest the newspaper has come up with since I started reading the Sunday Times in my primary school days. Many points put forward can hardly be justified!

Bad English means bad English. There is no going around it. I could not believe my eyes when even head honchos like the chairman of the Speak Good English campaign can defend her and the video.

There is a difference, no matter how subtle, between Singlish and her spoken English. Singlish is where Singaporeans mish mash different languages, typical of the races in Singapore in both structure and grammer. Our dear Ris Low here has instead tried to sound more "westernised", albeit to a terrible effect. A perfect example can be seen from Mdm Juanita Melson who was the voice many Singaporeans hear when traveling on our MRT trains and stations for many years. "We are Singaporeans and we do not need an accent!"

Following comments from the events director of ERM World Marketing, I am aghast to hear that the Miss World contest is a beauty contest where beauty is most important. I am sure many people are with me when I say that such contests consist of so many more things than just beauty. Contestants answers and thought pattern are equally important during the Q&A sessions which ultimately decides the winner. One of the sponsors, Mr Kelvin Koh, gave reasons like "youth" and "lack of experience" in public speaking. I think this is ridiculous and a very weak reason for the catastrophe we have seen from the video. Youth and lack of experience do not account towards speaking well. You can be jittery due to the lack of experience in public speaking, but that should not hinder the proper use of the language.
I also think that the teacher who mentioned that she is a representative of our language abilities is outrageous! It is not mentioned which school she is teaching at but most Singaporeans do speak well when an effort is made! I feel a personal disappointment and a big insult to those teaching when a teacher with a defeatist attitude gives such "hope" to those students around her.

In all, I have always seen the Straits Times and Sunday Times as one of the many tools used to upkeep and improve the standard of English besides keeping Singaporeans informed about world and local events. Good language is something that the newspaper stand for. Publishing a sympathy piece on the issue for Ris Low IS NOT GOING TO WORK!

Well, the semester is looking up...Just keep settling my work the way i always do and i shd be fine...

I will have another 1 week break in  a week's time. ha.. will find time to club abit before 10 weeks of pure mind boggling school work! hee
