Busy week ahead... so many things to look forward too!

 

I have turned 22.

somehow 2-2 together just sounds different. a different tone and ring to it

u r finally out of the formative years defined by the numbers 16, 18, 21..

the year has brought out many many emotions.

 some bad some good.

the good i will treasure dearly. the bad i will learn to stay away..

the Lord has been especially gracious to me and when a door closed, He opens so many more to me...

now my next step and decision awaits... do i take it up?

Looking through my pictures through out the years has shown how much I have grown as a person.. especially in the past year.

A huge change is that I have noticed that I have grown to be even more vocal in recent years. Some have commented about this trait of mine to others. well I am putting it up here in black and white(with a tinge of colour for added effect) that in this industry, being vocal makes u stand out... being vocal gets your point across... being vocal makes sure you are not pushed aside. being vocal also shows that you care. if ppl see it as a negative notion, than i am sorry but this is who i am and have become. all i can learn from it is to choose my words more closely in front of ppl who might take offense.. Being vocal more often then not has propelled me further than i could have even imagined. of course being vocal also make some ppl cringe at the blatant truth...

A reason might be that in primary school, i was such a quiet introverted type of person. i knw tht was nt me because i was such a vocal twit in kindergarten but the teachers in primary school just intimidated me into silence. i only started coming out of my shell arnd the age of 14... my pri sch years were quite painful to remember as i was so bloody scared to even speak out... even till today, speaking in public still brings tremours down my spine for they bring back memories from a distant past.

I decided to hold a birthday gathering at the ASCOTT:RAFFLES.. one of the reasons was because they have slashed their prices!! haha. its just so central and its a huge service apartment!

with such a small position, not worth or taking up much be seen as such a threat, I seriously question the confidence level of some.

anyway, thx to the guidence and advice of some who I know who still care and have much faith in me.. appreciate everything tht was done to help me realise my potential.

anyway, onwards to new stuff. only by looking at things differently am I able to see just how many options I have and how blessed I really am. In a way, a blessing in disguise.

Ha, its funny how things turn put, one minute you are declaring you passion, and the next it gets a hit which really gets you questioning your path.

In this grey economic times, such news really bring a glimmer of hope to those who have yet to graduate.

The profession Im gng into do not make promises of high financial returns. hey, it might even border on depressing when the figures come in. will passion for the work be able to put food on the table?

Recently, through the scours of the various magazines, I happen to see a familiar name for some of the articles... intially i thot she wrote exclusively for my internship plc. apparently i have seen her work in other similar targetted magazines as well.  is this the way to go? However, without the anchor of stability with a publication, do all the worries lie on where your next paycheck will come from?

Just some thoughts to consider. Really becoming melodramatic as i age. so many things to just sit down and think about..

So going against my natural flow of doing things slowly at a leisurely pace..

Yes, I got involved in fashion festival this year. Initially did not want to but a long story ensued. Basically I got pushed into the corner by 'if i do not do it, the person who needs the experience most will not be able to as well'

Haiz, thts why a few weeks ago, i described on facebook as selling my soul to the devil to help a friend, well, here you go

Anyway, like what daniel boey said 'take it as experience, u will learn even more under such pressure' thx daniel, will remember tht...

This year, met quite a few ppl who i think are just idiots. REAL IDIOTS... for one u cnt work and just love to command ppl arnd with no sense of respect. 2nd, when there is really nothing to do, u walk arnd as if there r a 1001 things to be done.. when a real crisis appear, u only appear 3 quarters into it...

Pls stop the fake front, so nt buying it..

I also feel at times, there is really no need to do yur best for certain ppl. becuz yur best will never ever be appreciated becuz they will always have something to pick on. Like i told imelda. I sloshed my guts out to make sure our collaterals are done properly and gets the proper branding. But some ppl becuz of her incapability, everything and anything wrong, pushes all the blame by saying its becuz im put in charge.

'FYI, I was put in charge of the dailies. nt yur sub cards nt the magazines. Please get tht right. I did more than i was asked(which i did not mind anyway) and made my volunteers give the dailies out instead of jsut our staff.. U THINK WITH JUST WITH THAT 2-WOMEN SHOW U INTIALLY PUT UP, WUD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO COVER EVERY ENTRANCE!? I think not..

since i have attended this fashion fiesta, of course there are pictures.. haha.. enjoy all you fashion lover peeps!lol

Seeing haute couture upfront is really an eye opener, was able to see the clothes upclose backstage and all the intricate detailing and hand woven patterns really blew me away!

I nvr imagined i would be able to see such a show here in spore. there are so few houses doing it and they r rarely seen outside paris.

half way thru the dinner, my editor said i will have to collect reflections on the show. i got tan yoong, ashley isham, dr georgia lee just to name a few.. hee.. was a fun activity!

Im happy tht the editor of my new internship place gives me work to do... and something like collection reflections on the show is no small thing!!

The clothes were really young.. and i loved lots of the guys stuff! especially a few of the bags!!! ahhh no wonder so many of the CLEO girls love marc by marc jacobs! The aesthetics of the bag really just want me to get it.. remember, the key word here is 'want'... not 'NEED'...haha!

I have so many grouses with this freaking show. Firstly, the show was supposed to be the launch of her new skin care line. But i saw not a drop of serum or a bottle of cleanser anywhere. Not much of a launch if u ask me.

Secondly, because of her, all my volunteers, the whole backstage crew, the production team, everyone in mercury(including the bosses in their high heels and gowns) douglas and odile benjamin from fj benjamin& their ppl and a few ppl from Harper's BAZAAR, were busy at work cleaning up after her white finale filled with white feathers! The whole area was covered with them! it was a freaking nightmare vaccuming and sweeping everything up

All i can say is, they were nt even the last show and they were freaking selfish to do tht. 2nd, None of the higher authority ppl knew. Imagine their faces! BLACK!

All the guests who attend the show looked as if chickens were plucked of their feathers on the top of their heads. Imagine those tais tais with their nicely coiffered hair now covered with plumes!

There were only male models for the show. the only female was georgia lee herself.. well tht says loads lah

what the heck was she  doing?!

5 months....

5 months with the marketing dept of acp magazines.

Phew. I wonder whether anyone stayed tht long. well i had my own reasons. Its been a good period of my life. Learnt loads. seriously all the life skills learnt during this period of time will be really helpful in times to come...

all the events i attended and did for the 3 magazines were all so fun! the CLEO bachelor party, GH MUMM party and all the small events here and there...

Of course, as with all working environments, it is not all lovey duffy..,i experienced the ire of some unknown people trying to backstab me in the back because of who i know.

mum said it is very natural for such stuff to happen in a predominantly female working environment.

o well...

Next up... another internship.as usual, wun say here till im done with it..haha Cant wait! this one is gonna be just as exciting!

Was talking to someone about what are my plans in the future. What else we talked about is blurred but this one stands out with immense clarity..

It has been cropping up in my mind alot the past few weeks during my self reflection times. . That can be anywhere from the bus, during training, sitting on the royal throne..whenever

Havent discussed this with many except for a select few. Call it the fear of peer pressure if u may.

Its the battle between, am I in this for the money or for the passion of writing. On one hand, money is not an issue for me. Enough to get me through with a lil savings at the side and i will thrive. On the other hand, writing comes naturally to me. Give me a topic and I am able to write away. However, there are many ppl out there with better flair and creative use of the pen. Am I able to stand out? Or be left to be among the crowds of mass writers out there?

I would like to say 'Yeah! Passion is the way to go man!' But I need sustainability. I need and want to be able to say 'I am able to do what no one or only a select few can!'

The route I am about to take in a few weeks will tell me whether I really really want and am cut out for this. In a few months, I will have an answer.

From there would be onwards with what I have chosen or the dictation of a new path.

*depends on whether I am motivated to move my lazy butt also lah..haha*

Tried this jap restaurant, mogu-mogu at far east plaza

food is ordered from a computer screen. Quite a cool place. though the interior is slightly boring.

well, I have to say only the japanese curry don tasted good. the sashimi did nt taste fresh, chawanmushi tasted.. weird and the miso soup was just salt filled.

Going to stick to the mains next time.

getting ready for the clubbing bash this coming weekend. lol

I have been sleeping at 4plus  since monday. However, when thurs came, I managed to sleep by 1 plus.. was impossible to sleep earlier due to my now SCREWED up sleeping pattern. Will be trying hard to sleep earlier and earlier till i hit.. 11? Though think it will be tough..heh

And why was bryan sleeping so late? Because the past week there were 3 assignment submissions and a test. Nevermind the test. tht one was easy. Journalism essay was finished by sunday.. no biggie..

Because of me constantly banging on the keyboard for the pr assignments, I was a tad snappy to a few ppl online.. many aplogies.. haha.. especially kav, always getting me at a bad time when the writing flow was on...lol

I have never ever encountered sucha self absorbed woman in all my life. There is just so much to rant abt her pathetic one track minded biased persona. All I had to say was written in tht evaluation form given at the end of the last lecture. And it was a long one. Now all I have to do is to wait for my appt with the director of school. Its not abt the marks which will be eventually given but her pissed up attitude and 2-faced excuse of a personality.

Its so interesting to see how helpful and 'on' students services were in getting me to complain abt her..lol.. they must really hate her..

Haha, my feelings towards tht woman.. I love how XF mentioned the whole irony of her being a PR lecturer..lol

Vtay's birthday surprise

Me,prisc,alvin and neek decided to surprise vtay at her place. Only prisc was expected..hahahaha... this has to be one of  gut-funny surprises ever!! hahaha

we decided to get her some really nice balloons from raffles city before taking a cab down..lol

when we got into the cab, the balloons were bobbing up and down... i was worried the uncle wun be able to see the back lah! he kept reassuring me 'ah boy, its alright! can one!'.. ha..im juz happy we reached accident free..lol

This is how i remember it went. me and prisc stopped outside the police post and started smsing. we were then asked by the officer inside what we were up to..hahaha... drama lah

met alvin and neek and we 'bumped' downstairs waiting for vtay to hurry up with what julian called 'furious spring cleaning!' and get into the shower so we could sneak into the house.

We had to get prisc to tell vtay tht she had taken the wrong direction on the train and gotten lost so she would need to hail a cab.ha... thts the best lah since no one would be surprised!! LOL! You knw thts so true lah!

Finally tht birthday girl got into the shower...i hid in the sister's room while alvin and neek hid in vtay room.. tht woman took so long to bathe lah!lol.. alvin hid behind the cuboard door while neek hid under the table. when tht woman came out in her towel, went into her room AND FREAKING CLOSED THE DOOR WITH THOSE 2 GUYS STILL INSIDE!! hahaha..

outside, we were all then wondering, ehhhhh? she hasnt discovered them? like a minute plus later, we heard a 'EEEEEEEK! WHAT ARE U DOING THERE! HOW MANY MORE PEOPLE ARE THERE HIDING!

We then heard 'AHHHHHHHHHHH' and a loud thud on the door, apparently alvin had jumped out. when she opened the door, i jumped out to greet her myself! lol...

u shd have seen all our faces..couldnt stop laughing! imagine if she nvr discovered them and then.... ..... ...
